About Katya

Born in Canada to a Portuguese family who had immigrated when her parents were only young, Katya moved to the Azores where she grew up, studied and started work.

Aged 19, she moved to Lisbon then to the Algarve in 2004 where she started work as an interpreter and translator.
In 2006 she moved to Swindon, Wiltshire to expand her business as an English teacher to include non-native speakers residing in the UK.

She has worked as a Portuguese/English interpreter for the NHS and since 2012 as a qualified Community Interpreter with the Police, Courts (Magistrates, Crown, Family and County Courts), Tribunals, Solicitors, Home Office, Councils, Job Centres, HMRC, Social Workers, Banks and Schools across England and Wales.

Katya holds a Full Advanced TELF certificate and a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting in Law and is also qualified in accounting.

When not working, Katya loves spending time with her children, travelling, and preparing international dishes.
